LAW STUDENTS FOR COMMUNITY ADVANCEMENT
A STUDENT ORGANIZATION AT SAN JOAQUIN COLLEGE OF LAW
Building a movement through inquiry, dialogue, and action.

EXPERIENCE LSCA
Law Students for Community Advancement's (LSCA) primary mission is to invigorate a culture of engagement at San Joaquin College of Law (SJCL) and empower the student body by facilitating positive and impactful relationships with our community. We believe that as law students and future legal professionals, we have a duty to advocate for social justice and equality before the law. Through advocacy, education, and outreach, our members work tirelessly to contribute their part to the greater good.
PARTNERSHIPS AND VOLUNTEERING
LSCA might be a small organization, but we're thinking big. By forging relationships with already well-established organizations, LSCA seeks to offer its members the opportunity to actively engage in and address issues they care about without having to reinvent the wheel. This strategy is a “win-win” for everyone: law students have the opportunity to effect change while networking with community leaders, and local organizations tap into a community of intelligent, willing, and able volunteers.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Whether by volunteering at legal clinics, participating in solidarity marches, or writings to local government officials, our members strive to focus their efforts on issues that directly affect the local community. But we know community is about more than just work, therefore, with our organization’s mission always in mind, we support local cultural events like Art Hop, the Woodward Shakespeare Festival, Reel Pride Film Festival, Lit Hop and Jazz Hop.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Above all, LSCA seeks to empower though inquiry, dialogue, and action. Therefore, throughout the year we present films, hold discussion panels, and invite guest speakers to present on various social and legal issues. All events are free and open to the general public.
